Magic Stuffy Doll

In Magic: The Gathering, what is the best defense against a Stuffy Doll in a red-black deck?

I have a friend who likes his Stuffy Doll. I use some cards to try and get around it, but it is indestructible and is almost impossible to destroy. Are there any cards that can help me remove it from game in an all red-black deck?

There are a lot of options that allow you to remove indestructible creatures, and luckily for you, they are all in either white or black. Let’s start with the black options.

An indestructible creature will be moved to the graveyard as a state-based effect if its toughness ever goes to zero or below. This can be achieved with a horde of black cards that give each creature -1/-1 (Stuffy doll has 1 toughness, which makes your job super-easy.) From the same set as Stuffy doll, there is Sudden death, which has split-second. In more recent times, there is the ever-powerful Infest, returning in Shards of Alara from its Onslaught days.

There is also a more elegant solution: Simply put an enchantment like Spirit Link or Vampiric Link on the stuffy doll. Now, whenever it deals damage, you gain that much life, making it more or less equal.

You can remove an indestructible creature from the game. There are a lot of options to do this in white. Crib Swap replaces the ugly doll with a cute shapeless shapeshifter (which happens to be a doll as well, seeing that it is all creature types.) Swords to Plowshares, the best removal spell in the history of Magic, is in white (W: remove target creature from the game. Its controller gains life equal to the creature’s toughness) or its updated version, Condemn.

Did you know that you can create an infinite loop which can gain you infinite life with Stuffy doll? Play Stuffy Doll CHOOSING YOURSELF AS ITS TARGET. Put Pariah on Stuffy Doll, which makes all damage dealt to you redirect to the doll. Finally, put something like Vampiric Link or Spirit Link or Spirit Loop on it, making it gain lifelink. Now, deal damage to it. Every damage it is dealt is instead dealt to you, which is then redirected to itself, thanks to Pariah. It has dealt one damage to itself, making you gain one life.

Hope that Helped!
